Evelyn Knolls was a young housewife who loved her husband and three little girls dearly. Neighbors used to laugh at her because she was satisfied with being a wife and mother, saying she was the only 'eighties' women who didn't want anything for herself.
This was not entirely true, for in her heart Evelyn had a secret desire which she could never talk to her friends about. She longed to know and serve God; and when she had been younger, she had considered becoming a nun. But her life had followed a different course.
Evelyn had never told anyone of her secret dream, for in her circle of friends, finding and knowing God was not high on their list of priorities.
For many years, while her girls were young, Evelyn had kept herself busy caring for them, and watching them grow. She would spend time with her children each day, talking with them about the positive side of life, teaching them to be kind and thoughtful, and to love themselves, for they were part of God's plan.
Time marched onward, and the three little girls grew into teenagers, each developing her own personality. Each girl grew up strong, and beautiful; and although the family had its share of problems, they all managed to come through the difficult times hy sticking together the way Evelyn had taught them.
One day, Evelyn was walking through the park on her way home. It was such a lovely day she decided to sit for a moment on a bench and take in the scenery. A men came by as she was sitting there, carrying a newspaper.
"Mind if I sit down?" he asked politely.
She nodded her consent. As he read his newspaper, Evelyn watched the young children playing in the park, and listened to the birds singing.
Suddenly, the man sitting next to her folded up hi.s papers, saying, "You have heeded the call oi God."
"I beg your pardon?" Evelyn asked, looking at the stranger.
"This is what you desired all your life, isn't it?" he asked. "You always wanted to know God, and be in His service, didn't you?
"Weil," the stranger went on,"Your wish has been grantad. In fact, it was granted many years ago."
"Yss, I wanted to know Gnd, and 1 longed to be in His service. But I haven't done anything for Him," she insisted.
"But you have, my dear child. You see, each person who desires to serve God may do so. Often times, we are in His service all our lives without knowing it. Many years ago, you asked with s pure heart, and God heard you. He considered how you could best serve Him, so you were given three precious daughters, who you have Ioved and taught God's ways.
"Now, each of your girls has a foundation to grow upon. One day they in return will give service to God, each in her own unique way."
"God uses each of our talents. You don't have to be in some high position, working outside of the home, or be famous, in order to assist in spreading God's message. Each of us, as Soul, is allowed to use our own talents, working with his own likes and dislikes in the service of Gcd.
If God did not need many and various channels, He would not have allowed people to have so many different types personalities to exist together. It is God's will that no two individuals are identical; and it is God's will we all serve ln our own unique way, for the benefit of the whole."
